What are the principles of Sweatec Intelligent Pulsed Iontophoresis Machine?

Sweatec Intelligent Pulsed Iontophoresis Machine has dual antihidrotic principles:

  • 1)Although treatment success has been validated in numerous medical studies, there is still no completely satisfactory scientific explanation for the mechanism of action. Medical researchers believe that the electrical current irritates the synapses between sweat-inducing nerves and sweat glands to such an extent that sweat glands can no longer be stimulated. In other words: The treatment does not affect the sweat glands directly, it only affects the nervous input to these glands.
  • 2)Recent research suggests that through the electrophoresis method, a plug is formed, blocking the duct without damaging the sweat gland, which takes the antihidrotic effect as well.

What is Sweatec PDB-100?

What is the side effect or Drawback of Sweatec?

  • Local dysthesias or burning sensations
  • Erythema (skin redness) and urticarias (hives)
  • Electric burns on uncovered skin defects
  • Requires daily or several times per week treatment
  • Can be somewhat time consuming

Some Important Tips

  • If possible, learn how to use iontophoresis effectively in a clinical office from a trained health professional before trying it at home.
  • Expect to feel a mild tingling sensation during iontophoresis.
  • Know that the electric current used during iontophoresis is not strong enough to cause a harmful shock but it could startle you, so don’t remove your hands or feet etc. from the water during treatment.
  • Don't use iontophoresis if you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, have a substantial metal implant in the current path (such as a joint replacement), or have a cardiac condition or epilepsy. Not sure? Talk to your doctor.
  • Remove jewelry before iontophoresis treatments.
  • Cover scratches, tender cuticles, and nicks in your skin with a petroleum jelly (like Vaseline) before treatment. If redness occurs at the water line, cover that area with petroleum jelly, too. Keep in mind that petroleum jelly is, however, a barrier to iontophoresis, so apply it only as necessary. Use a Q-tip to help.
  • Treat any post-treatment, mild skin irritation or redness with 1% hydrocortisone cream.
  • Talk to your doctor if the treatment doesn’t seem to be working. Adding baking soda or a prescription medicine (anticholinergic) to the water can help.
  • If excessive dryness occurs, use a moisturizer after treatment sessions.

Principle & Advantages

What is the anti-perspirant principle of the SweaTec® Pulsed Iontophoresis Machine?

The SweaTec® Pulsed Iontophoresis Machine works on two principles:
1. A pulsed current at a specific frequency electrolyses the water; the resulting positive and negative ions are driven into the sweat glands of the skin by electrophoresis, gradually blocking the glands and so gradually stopping perspiration.
2. SweaTec®'s patented pulsed current at a specific frequency stimulates the synapses between the sweat-inducing nerve and the sweat gland to a certain degree, so that the sweat gland is no longer excited and perspiration stops.
This is a safe and effective physical method that avoids the side effects of surgery or medication. Iontophoresis has been validated as an effective treatment in many medical studies worldwide.
SweaTec® promises a full refund within 15 days if the device is not effective for you.

What exactly is the SweaTec® Pulsed Iontophoresis Machine?

1. SweaTec® is the first pulsed iontophoresis anti-perspirant device made in China, manufactured by OmniNet Technologies (Luoyang) Co., Ltd.
2. SweaTec® is the first registered trademark for an anti-perspirant device in China.
3. OmniNet Technologies (Luoyang) Co., Ltd. drafted the first Chinese technical and enterprise standard for pulsed iontophoresis devices.
4. To date the SweaTec® series has filed 32 national invention and utility-model patents, of which 12 utility-model patents have been granted.
5. SweaTec® holds several world-first patented technologies, including adaptive skin-load detection, mobile APP control and voice-command control.
Note: please choose carefully. Many so-called "anti-sweat machines" on the market have no identified manufacturer, no registered trademark and no test report.

What are the main advantages of using pulsed current instead of direct current?

SweaTec® uses a pulse frequency chosen to suit the human body: it irritates the skin far less and largely removes the stinging sensation of direct current. Because SweaTec® has an intelligent skin-load sensor, you can lift your skin off the device and put it back at any time — the device ramps the current up and down automatically, which makes treatment much more comfortable and safer.
1. The patented pulse frequency desensitises the nerve papillae of the sweat glands, greatly improving efficiency.
2. The sensation on the skin is mild and comfortable. Above roughly 1000 Hz the pain nerves can no longer respond, so strong skin irritation is avoided.
3. You can break and re-make contact with the device at any time with no stinging and no electric shock — unlike the direct-current units that cannot avoid it.
4. Body tissue behaves like a small capacitor and presents capacitive reactance (Xc) to an alternating pulse. The higher the frequency, the lower the reactance, so the current penetrates deeper — SweaTec® treats excessive sweating from deeper in the skin.

Which company develops and manufactures SweaTec®?

The SweaTec® series is developed and manufactured by OmniNet Technologies (Luoyang) Co., Ltd., the result of seven years of development.

OmniNet Technologies (Luoyang) Co., Ltd. is a Sino-Singaporean joint venture focused on the R&D and production of intelligent electronic healthcare products. The Chinese name "奥秘" is a transliteration of the Singaporean parent's name, "Omni". The founders previously held senior management and technical architecture positions at Singapore MOH Holdings, the Philips Electronics Asia-Pacific R&D centre and ST Electronics.

The company is located in Zhongke Science Park in the High-Tech Development Zone of Luoyang, within the Luoyang area of the Henan Free Trade Zone. The park was founded by the listed company Pulaike (603566) and is the only science park in Luoyang focused on biopharmaceuticals.

Tips & Know-how

What should I pay attention to the first time I use SweaTec®?

When you first use the PDB-100, set every parameter to a low value. Only after you are familiar with the device and with how the output feels should you gradually raise the output voltage or the anti-perspirant density. Never start with strong settings.

How do I find the best combination of anti-perspirant density and pulse voltage?

With the pulse density fixed (between 50 and 90), the higher the voltage the better the result.
With the voltage fixed, the higher the pulse density (between 50 and 90) the better the result.
Everyone feels the current differently. The best approach is to adjust the density so that you can tolerate as high a voltage as possible while still being comfortable — that gives the most efficient treatment.

What is the relationship between pulse voltage and current?

Voltage = skin load × current.
When the skin load does not change — that is, when you treat the same part of the body — current and voltage are proportional: a higher voltage means a higher current, and a lower voltage means a lower current.

How does SweaTec® identify different skin loads automatically?

The impedance of different skin areas varies a great deal. A rough summary is below. For sensitive areas, start with a low voltage and raise it gradually, so that you do not cause discomfort by starting too high.
Treatment areaImpedanceSensitivity
ArmpitLowMore sensitive
FaceLowMore sensitive
ForeheadLowMore sensitive
NeckLowMore sensitive
Single handLowLess sensitive
Both handsLowLess sensitive
Both feetHighNot sensitive
BackHighLess sensitive

How can I tell that SweaTec® has detected the skin load?

The PDB-100 detects the skin load automatically. When your skin is in contact with the treatment accessory and treatment begins, the load indicator on the device lights up.

Why should direct-current anti-sweat machines be avoided?

When the anti-perspirant density of SweaTec® is set to 100, the output becomes direct current. In principle this is the same as the cheap "anti-sweat machines" sold online. Direct current irritates the skin strongly and can easily cause electrical burns, so this mode should be avoided.

Once sweating has stopped completely, how do I maintain the result?

After the PDB-100 has stopped your sweating completely, the dry period lasts about 2 to 6 weeks on average. During that period we recommend occasional short low-dose sessions to maintain the effect.

How do I add water to, or wet, the SweaTec® accessories?

1. For the hand and foot trays, fill to about 1 cm — enough to wet the palms and soles thoroughly and cover the affected area, but not so much that the backs of the hands or feet are submerged.

2. For the face, forehead, neck, back and armpit accessories, moisten the corresponding accessory with tap water so that it is damp but not dripping.

How do I download, install and update the SweaTec® mobile APP?

1. Scan the APP download QR code on the front of the accessory case or on the back of the main unit, or download it from the official website (Download APP).

3. Register with your mobile number and the SMS verification code.

What are the side effects of SweaTec®?

When the current is set high (for example above 25), a small number of users experience local reddening of the skin, mild burns, blisters, a slight electric-shock or unpleasant tingling sensation, or local peeling. If this happens, lower the voltage until the sensation is comfortable; that will remove or relieve these effects. Important: always observe the contraindication list. An excessive dose can cause electrical burns.

Is there a SweaTec® model that works without a mobile phone?

An LCD version that runs on its own without phone control is going into production. Please stay tuned.

How do I use the waterless version of SweaTec®?

The waterless version comes with self-adhesive soft rubber electrodes. Stick the electrode onto the area to be treated; for everything else follow the steps for that body area.

How do I look up my own treatment history?

1. Open the user centre in the SweaTec® APP (the person icon in the top right corner).
2. Tap "History" to open the treatment history screen.

What is anti-perspirant density?

Anti-perspirant density represents the strength, or density, of the positive pulse current. It ranges from 50% to 100% in steps of 10%. 100% is equivalent to direct current. (We do not normally recommend the 100% direct-current mode, because the sensation is strong.)

How do I turn voice-command control on and off?

1. Open the SweaTec® controller screen.
2. Tap "Voice mode" in the bottom right corner.

What are the basic steps for using the APP controller?

1. Open the SweaTec® APP controller screen.
2. Tap "Connect Bluetooth" to connect to the device. (If the device is off, hold its power switch for 3 seconds.)
3. Select the treatment mode and adjust the parameters to suit you.
4. Place or wear the accessory on the area to be treated and start the treatment.
5. When the session ends the APP disconnects automatically. Switch the device off until next time.

How do I reset the cumulative treatment time?

1. Open the SweaTec® controller screen.
2. Tap "Total" in the bottom right corner and confirm in the dialog that appears.

What are the preset values for each body area (hand, foot, neck, back, face, armpit)?

AreaDensityVoltageTime (min)
Hand702020
Foot702520
Neck70810
Back701515
Face70810
Armpit701010

How high should I set the pulse current?

Everyone feels the current differently. The most effective approach is to adjust the density so that you can raise the voltage as high as you can comfortably tolerate. Treatment works best when the skin feels a tingle that is still acceptable. If the output voltage is too low, it will simply take longer to see results.

How should I balance density against voltage?

With the density fixed (50 to 90), a higher voltage gives a better result. With the voltage fixed, a higher density (50 to 90) gives a better result.

How do I treat the left and right sides of the body evenly?

SweaTec® does not depend on the direction of current flow, but the anode (red) is slightly more effective than the cathode (black). We therefore recommend reversing the leads periodically between sessions for a more even and more effective result.

I have only used SweaTec® for a few days and I seem to be sweating more. Why?

A temporary increase in sweating during the first days is normal and nothing to worry about. Most users see a local improvement after about 7 days of use.

How long does it take before SweaTec® works?

Bodies differ, but on average you will see a reduction in sweating — at least locally — after a cumulative 7 to 10 hours of treatment.

Can I move the treated area during a session?

Yes. If the current feels strong, moving the treated area will reduce or relieve the tingling. We recommend lifting and replacing it regularly rather than holding it perfectly still for a long time.

Why do I need to keep increasing the settings to feel anything?

As the treatment takes effect you sweat less, so the resistance of your skin rises and the old settings feel weaker. This is normal — simply raise the voltage a little and carry on.

Can I use purified water in the tray or to wet the accessories?

No. Please do not use purified or otherwise treated water; ordinary tap water is what the device is designed for.

Sweating has started to come back after a while. What should I do?

After a course of treatment the effect lasts about 2 to 6 weeks on average. As soon as you notice the first signs of excessive sweating returning, start a new course; once sweating decreases again you will enjoy another dry period.

My skin is a little red (or slightly burnt, blistered, peeling). What should I do?

When the current is set high (for example above 25), a small number of users experience local reddening, mild burns, blisters, a slight electric-shock or unpleasant tingling sensation, or local peeling. Lower the voltage until the sensation is comfortable; that will remove or relieve these effects. Important: always observe the contraindication list. An excessive dose can cause electrical burns.

Who must not use SweaTec®?

1. Children and adolescents under 12.
2. People with heart disease or a cardiac pacemaker.
3. People with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).
4. Women who are pregnant.
5. Users with a metal-containing intrauterine device (IUD).
6. Users with any other metal implant in the body.
7. Users with broken skin or open wounds.
8. Users with impaired sensation in the hands, feet or the area to be treated.
9. Users with epilepsy or any other condition that may be affected by electrical pulse stimulation.

What is the relationship between output voltage and output current?

Voltage = skin load × current. When the skin load does not change — that is, when you treat the same part of the body — current and voltage are proportional: a higher voltage means a higher current, and a lower voltage means a lower current.

How many people suffer from hyperhidrosis worldwide?

According to the International Hyperhidrosis Society, at least 5% of the world's population suffers from hyperhidrosis — roughly 367 million people. In China that is at least about 68.5 million out of a population of 1.37 billion. The Shenzhen Evening News has reported that in Shenzhen alone 540,000 people suffer from palmar hyperhidrosis.

What are the nine key strengths of SweaTec®?

1. Efficient — a pulsed output with an adjustable duty cycle lets you tolerate a higher peak voltage, which improves both comfort and efficiency.
2. Long lasting — SweaTec®'s own testing shows that most users feel an effect after a cumulative 10 hours of treatment. Using it for roughly 15–60 minutes a day for about 10–15 days brings a noticeable result in the affected area, after which the skin normally stays dry for about 4–6 weeks. When the glands begin to produce sweat again, another course at the same or a reduced dose maintains the effect.
3. Healthy — iontophoresis is a physical treatment that avoids the harm and complications associated with medication or surgery.
4. Safe — adaptive voltage and current control with multiple limiting circuits: the protection circuit engages automatically at 36 V output or 30 mA output current.
5. Intelligent — control by mobile APP and by voice command. Voice control was designed specifically for treating both hands, when you cannot reach the controls.
6. Personalised — presets for each body area plus adjustable density, voltage and time let you find the exact intensity that suits you. The device also records the cumulative time of each course so that you can plan your treatment.
7. Comfortable — load detection lets SweaTec® start and stop with the skin contact, ramping the pulse intensity up and down gradually so there is no shock sensation.
8. Connected — internet and social features let users share their experience; the cloud server analyses usage data and can push suggestions back to the user.
9. Multi-functional — the APP records treatment data over time and connects you to other users through the forum. You can also watch videos or listen to music on the same phone while treating, which makes an otherwise dull process much more bearable.

What are the product advantages of SweaTec®?

1. Own intellectual property — 32 national invention and utility-model patents filed, 12 utility-model patents granted.
2. World-first technology — the PDB-100 is the world's first portable iontophoresis device controlled by mobile APP and voice command: powerful, simple to set up and easy to operate.
3. Treats the whole body — in principle it can treat hyperhidrosis anywhere on the body. It is widely used for hands, feet and armpits, and with the optional accessories it also treats the face, neck and back.
4. Far better value than European and American products — the PDB-100 offers more than comparable imported iontophoresis devices at roughly one sixth to one seventh of the price.
5. First manufacturer in China — OmniNet Technologies (Luoyang) Co., Ltd. is currently the only manufacturer of pulsed iontophoresis devices in China, and the PDB-100 was the first such product on the Chinese market.
6. A large untapped market — according to the International Hyperhidrosis Society at least 5% of the world's population, about 367 million people, suffer from hyperhidrosis; in China at least about 68.5 million.
7. A recognised principle — SweaTec® combines two mechanisms: (i) the pulsed current electrolyses the water and the ions are driven into the sweat pores by electrophoresis, blocking the glands; (ii) the pulsed current at a specific frequency stimulates the synapses between the sweat-inducing nerve and the gland so that the gland is no longer excited. This is a safe, effective physical method already used by hyperhidrosis sufferers worldwide.

Who is SweaTec® for?

Hyperhidrosis is not a serious illness, but it causes a great deal of inconvenience in daily life, at work and in social situations. It usually affects the palms, soles, armpits, face, neck or back. According to the International Hyperhidrosis Society at least 5% of the world's population — about 367 million people — suffer from it; in China at least about 68.5 million out of 1.37 billion. The Shenzhen Evening News has reported 540,000 sufferers of palmar hyperhidrosis in Shenzhen alone. Typical situations include:
1. Students whose sweaty hands soak books and exam papers, affecting their studies, experiments and extracurricular activities, and often their confidence.
2. Office workers, for whom sweating causes awkwardness at work and socially — some avoid shaking hands and become anxious about social contact.
3. Manual workers, for whom sweat makes tools slip, lowering productivity and sometimes creating danger — an electrician with sweaty hands is an obvious example.
4. Drivers, whose wet hands reduce control over the steering wheel and gear lever and so affect driving safety.
5. Athletes in sports that depend on grip — gymnastics, weightlifting, shooting, billiards, rugby, basketball and so on.
6. E-sports players, where the tension of competition triggers sweating that makes the controller or keyboard slip.
7. Couples, where sweaty hands or body odour from the hands, feet or armpits affects intimacy.
8. Actors, for whom facial sweat ruins make-up and sweaty hands make movement difficult.
9. Anyone using a touchscreen phone or tablet, where sweaty fingers feel sticky on the glass and can affect responsiveness.
…and many others who need an effective, quick and safe way to stop sweating.

What are the most common mistakes when using SweaTec®?

SymptomCause and what to check
The main unit does not work and the Bluetooth indicator is offCheck that the power adapter is working (try another 12 V 1 A adapter), that the plug makes good contact, and that the outlet has power.
Skin is in the tray or on the electrode but no current flowsCheck the output terminal leads and the condition of the soft rubber electrode.
The APP cannot connect to the main unitCheck that the unit is switched on and the Bluetooth indicator is flashing; check that Bluetooth is enabled on the phone; close the APP; restart the phone and reconnect.
Voice commands are not recognisedCheck for background noise and move somewhere quiet — the unit cannot recognise commands over noise. Speak the commands in Mandarin, and only once the voice panel shows "recording".
Bluetooth disconnects suddenlyCheck the distance between phone and unit and whether two or more walls are in between. Indoors, distances beyond about 10–15 m usually break the connection. Also check that the unit is still switched on and powered.
Current is too lowCheck for too little water or a dry felt pad, which makes the load resistance too high.
The unit gets very hotCheck whether it has been running at high voltage and current for a long time. At 30 mA we recommend sessions of no more than 30 minutes; if you must run long sessions at high current, pause between them. Tilt the back cover slightly so that the vents stay clear.
The voltage drops to 0 by itselfYour countdown has finished. For safety the unit ramps the voltage down to 0. Switch it off and on again and reconnect from the APP to continue.
The voltage will not go any higherCheck whether the current has reached 30. If so, the voltage and current limiters have engaged to protect you and the voltage cannot be raised further.
The cumulative time shows 0Check whether the cumulative time was reset by accident, either by tapping or by a voice command.

How often should I use SweaTec®?

1. For milder hyperhidrosis, once a day for about 15–30 minutes.
2. For more severe hyperhidrosis, at least twice a day for about 30 minutes.
On average, results appear after a cumulative 7–10 hours of treatment.
